modern bowed version, dating from about the eighth century. The more modern
'Pig's Head' version is also available. The Gittern dates from the 13th century
and is taken from the palace of Gelmirez in Northern Spain; in this case it is
strung and tuned as the top five strings of a guitar. The Gothic Harp is taken
from the painting by Bosch and is diatonic with a range of two and a half
octaves, it dates from the 15th century. |
