Hardanger Viola
 

This instrument was designed for a player who wanted a viola sized Hardanger fiddle. It is decorated with painted motifs and a carved and gilded dragon completes the instrument. Many tunings are possible and it is usual to play with as much double and triple stopping as possible. This is permitted by a flattened bridge and fingerboard, although this model has a more conventional set up.
